Italian cuisine is one of the world’s most renowned cuisines. In Bali Indonesia, you can find countless Italian restaurants; even restaurants that don’t specialize in Italian food have varied pasta and pizza on their menu. We dine in at Italian restaurants in Bali quite often and I knew the food well hence I can share my top 8 best Italian restaurants in Bali in terms of flavor, ambiance, and service.

1. MAURI

MAURI deserves a top spot on any food lover’s list. My Christmas dinner there was nothing short of spectacular, and I couldn’t resist sharing it with you all. The fine-dining restaurant offers contemporary Italian cuisine with a modern twist, paired beautifully with an award-winning wine selection. Chef Maurizio Bombini, the mastermind behind MAURI, brings the soulful flavors of his hometown Puglia to Bali, emphasizing simplicity, authenticity, and the freshness of local produce.

Founded in 2018, MAURI has become one of Bali’s most refined dining destinations. Nestled in the heart of Seminyak, the two-level restaurant exudes understated elegance — minimalist interiors inspired by the sun-washed beauty of Puglia, an open atrium, and an intimate setting that feels both sophisticated and welcoming. With only 50 seats, including a 5-seat Chef’s Table, MAURI’s open kitchen adds an element of theater to the experience, allowing guests to watch the chefs at work and even enjoy personal interactions with Chef Maurizio himself. It’s dining reimagined — transparent, interactive, and truly engaging.

MAURI’s Signature and Discovery Tasting Menus highlight seasonal ingredients and contemporary interpretations of Italian classics, served on bespoke GAYA ceramics. Every dish is a reflection of craftsmanship and balance — modern yet deeply rooted in tradition. During my Christmas dinner, every appetizer, main, and dessert arrived as a work of art. The desserts were especially memorable, beautifully presented and bursting with flavor, while the wines—spanning Italy, France, Austria, the U.S., and Australia—perfectly complemented each course.

A visit to MAURI isn’t just about dinner — it’s about an experience. The restaurant’s wine program has been recognized by Wine Spectator for five consecutive years, featuring exclusive Dom Pérignon vintages served by the glass using Coravin Sparkling technology.

I also had the pleasure of joining their Sunday Brunch, and it was an equally impressive experience. Unlike a typical buffet brunch, MAURI’s is a curated, sit-down affair that changes its theme every week — from the Classic Brunch featuring MAURI’s signature egg dishes, pastas, pristine seafood, and artisan cheeses, to the indulgent Butcher Brunch, spotlighting premium cuts like tomahawk beef, lamb rack, beef tartare, foie gras, and slow-cooked Wagyu ragu.

My favorite, though, was the Seafood & Rosé Brunch — a lavish coastal feast that felt like a Mediterranean escape in the heart of Seminyak. Imagine fresh lobsters, caviar, oysters, scallops, smoked salmon, king prawns, crab, and Otoro tuna — each paired with a refined roster of rosé wines. Every course arrived beautifully plated, the pacing unhurried, and the service warm yet precise. The experience was elevated, intimate, and perfectly executed — a true testament to Chef Maurizio’s dedication to detail and quality.

Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion, savoring a romantic evening, or simply seeking the best Italian restaurant in Bali, MAURI Bali offers a destination for more than just a normal dinner. It’s a celebration of contemporary Italian artistry — fine dining in Bali that blends authenticity, innovation, and heartfelt hospitality into one unforgettable experience.

2. Arte Canggu

Italian restaurant Bali, Italian restaurant in Canggu Bali

I and hubby had a little debate about whether Arte Canggu should be number one or two on the list of Best Italian Restaurants in Bali, but I do not doubt that it should be at the top of the list. I’ve been visiting Arte Canggu regularly since a few years ago and I can say that their food has never failed me. Lasagna, carbonara fettuccini and aglio olio fettuccini here is top notch. For pizza lovers, try calzone and capricciosa.

Arte means art in the Italian language and refers to a restaurant that is designed not only to enjoy good food but also as an art space. Arte was born as a family passion project during the pandemic from the love of good food and creative spaces. The Italian restaurant in Canggu Bali is surrounded by the works of local artists and an international array of books in a comfortable place for artistic souls wishing to enjoy wood-fired Italian flavors in good company. The concept of their cuisine reflects their Italian origins, with home-made pasta recipes coming straight from their Italian ‘nonna’ (grandma), and their passion for woodfire pizza, which has a long-leaving dough process, soft crust, homemade tomato sauce, and carefully selected fresh ingredients, making it one of the best on the Bali island.

The only downside of the Italian restaurant in Canggu Bali is it’s getting hard to sit without making a reservation first, especially on weekend nights, which means their business is going well. Sometimes I prefer to order takeout, but when we have more time, I like to have dinner in Arte Canggu while enjoying a jazz performance on a Tuesday night.

If you are fancy art, Arte hosts a series of exhibitions featuring the work of Indonesian artists, with 10% of every art sale going to a Bali-based charity. Aside from visual art, they also have a varied book collection that you can borrow and bring home.

3. Bonito

Chef-restaurateur Maurizio Bombini’s second concept, Bonito, has earned its reputation as one of the best Italian restaurants in Bali. Serving Italian fusion cuisine with a focus on seafood, Bonito brings the flavors of the Mediterranean to the heart of Umalas. Known for its freshly sourced fish and seafood, the restaurant also offers a thoughtful selection of meat and vegetarian dishes—making it a go-to destination for seafood lovers in Bali.

Signature creations include the Bottoni Cacio e Pepe (homemade stuffed ravioli with mascarpone and ricotta, seafood bisque, and black pepper), Gnocchetti al Ragù (potato gnocchi with beef ragout, tomato, and Grana Padano), and Gnocchetti con Gamberetti & Asparagus (potato gnocchi with prawns, cherry tomatoes, and asparagus). Each dish highlights the freshest ingredients, sourced daily and prepared with expert skill to enhance their natural flavors.

I’ve visited Bonito on several occasions—from intimate dinners to casual gatherings—and what I love most about the Italian restaurant in Bali is its warm, welcoming atmosphere. It feels effortlessly elegant yet relaxed, making it perfect for any occasion, whether a laid-back lunch, a cozy dinner, or a lively get-together with friends.

Another reason I keep coming back is knowing that Bonito is the sister restaurant of MAURI, led by one of Bali’s most innovative chefs, Maurizio Bombini. Having had an unforgettable dining experience at MAURI, it only feels natural to savor his next culinary creation. At Bonito, Chef Maurizio invites guests to connect deeply with fish and seafood—the same way he does in his hometown of Puglia, Italy.

4. Cantina Classe

Italian restaurant Bali, Italian restaurant in Canggu Bali

I’ve been curious about the Italian restaurant in Canggu Bali every time we passed around the street it is located. I and Adrien then pay a visit to Cantina Class for dinner. I have to say I am impressed with their interior decoration. It feels like I am inside a European wine cellar or a classic stove oven! Cantina Classe looks fancy with its nice setting and old-style architecture in the form of brick walls, it also has great service. We’ve tried some of their best cuisine such as Margherita pizza which tastes fresh and crispy and the tasty Fettucinne truffle carbonara & Penne marinara which comes in pretty huge portions. One thing that makes my dinner experience in Cantina Classe unforgettable is that they have a live cocktail-making performance. We’re curious about their signature cocktail, Liquid Pizza, and ordered it. The mixologist then came to our table and showed us his skills. That’s fun & amusing. The cocktail itself tasted exactly like pizza. What a unique creation! I’ve also tasted another cocktail, Sage Spritz which I love since it tasted fresh & a bit sour.

As complementary to our fabulous dinner, we had Nusantara tiramisu which I can confidently say deserves to be claimed as the best tiramisu in Bali. I am a huge fan of tiramisu and have been tasting it in various cafes & restaurants in Bali so I know which places have good tiramisu. Overall, we really enjoyed our dinner experience in Cantina Classe and definitely will come back to one of the best Italian restaurant in Canggu Bali for another authentic taste of Italy!

5. Zia Tina

Italian restaurant Bali, Italian restaurant in Canggu Bali

Puglia has long been celebrated as the home of Italy’s most soulful cuisine and freshest produce. Olive oil, wine, pasta, and creamy cheeses like burrata and mozzarella mostly come from this sun-soaked region in Southern Italy. Inspired by these heartwarming traditions, Bali’s leading chef-restaurateur Maurizio Bombini has brought a true taste of Puglia to the heart of Seminyak with Zia Tina.

From the moment I stepped in, everything about Zia Tina felt like family. Just like Zia (Aunt) Tina cooking for her loved ones back home, every dish here is made from scratch with love — using handmade techniques and fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced from both Bali and Italy. Their menu celebrates the beauty of simplicity: handmade pasta, wood-fired pizzas, grilled meats, and comforting, slow-cooked flavors that instantly remind me of dining in a cozy Italian home. What I love most is not only the rich, soulful taste of their dishes but also the generous portions that make sharing inevitable.

I started my meal with abundant antipasti platters — marinated vegetables, creamy burrata, grilled seafood, and warm, just-out-of-the-oven focaccia. Then came hearty homemade pasta, thin and crispy pizzas loaded with flavor, and signature mains like grilled lamb, octopus, and melanzane alla parmigiana. And of course, I couldn’t leave without dessert — their house-made gelato, tiramisu, and pannacotta were divine. Even Zia Tina herself would ask for seconds!

Nestled inside Kleo Seminyak boutique hotel, this beautiful spot instantly transports you to Southern Italy. This charming Italian restaurant in Bali truly captures the spirit of Puglia. The space is designed like a masseria — a traditional farmhouse found in Puglia — complete with rustic textures and Mediterranean hues. I especially loved the long communal wooden table and the open kitchen, which made it feel just like dining at home. The cozy outdoor area evokes the relaxed coastal vibes of Southern Italy, while the indoor dining room blends rustic charm with modern elegance.

Spending time at Zia Tina with friends and loved ones was such a joy. It wasn’t just a memorable culinary experience — it was a celebration of good food, music, and togetherness. The adjoining Il Nipote Bar brings even more life to the space, turning it into what feels like an Italian house party. Here, you can sip on Italian-inspired cocktails, enjoy spritzes with a twist, or explore a curated wine list featuring regional Italian vintages and bold reds that make you want to sing along. It’s perfect for a pre-dinner aperitivo, after-dinner drinks, or even a spontaneous night out.

Next time, I’m bringing my daughter — Zia Tina offers a “dine for free” program for children aged 0 to 6 years old. And if you can’t leave your furry friends behind, they’re welcome too, complete with special treats for them.

Zia Tina is proof that family, food, and community are at the heart of Italian culture. One of the best Italian restaurant in Bali may be located in Seminyak, but it beautifully brings the warmth, flavors, and soul of Puglia right here to the island.

6. L’Osteria Pizza e Cucina Canggu

Italian restaurant Bali, Italian restaurant in Canggu Bali

The Italian restaurant in Canggu Bali claims to offer authentic Italian dishes. Since Italian food is on my list of top 3 best food in the world, I felt that I have to try this nicely decorated restaurant once it opened. As usual, my first choice in every Italian restaurant is Carbonara pasta. I find the carbonara in L’osteria Berawa isn’t very special but not bad either. Meanwhile, their pizza is also just okay.

While I ain’t that impressed by the food in Italian restaurant Canggu Bali, I am pretty fond of its interior decoration that is aesthetically pleasing, much like Kebun Bistro in Ubud. Besides the Italian restaurant in Canggu, Bali, you can also find their first outlet in Ubud, and in Jimbaran as well.

Address: Jl. Pemelisan Agung No.2, Tibubeneng, Kec. Kuta Utara, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361

7. Pasta Bar

Italian restaurant Bali, Italian restaurant in Canggu Bali

As its name suggests, the tiny Italian restaurant in Canggu, Bali serves pasta only, but varied. The pasta bar specializes in making homemade pasta. I have always enjoyed the taste as much as the live cooking on one of their 4-seat. My favorite here is creamy carbonara.

Since the seats are very limited, the best is to order takeaway from the Italian restaurant in Bali. The Pasta bar is the right choice if you wanna savor good pasta at an affordable price.

8. Bottega Italiana

Italian restaurant Bali, Italian restaurant in Canggu Bali

I came to Bottega Italiana because a friend recommended to me the Italian restaurant in Canggu Bali has the best Italian food. That’s true tho. I really enjoyed their Tagliatelle pesto and baby spinach. The food tasted fresh and the baby spinach was even crispy. The quality of the food makes me curious about how they make it and I’d like to learn how to cook it since my cooking skill is so so so….basic hahaha.

Bottega Italiana has several outlets all around southern Bali (Seminyak, Petitenget, Batu Bolong, Berawa, and Pererenan). It serves gourmet Italian home-cooking using fresh ingredients, classic recipes, and artisanal techniques that have been around for hundreds of years. The one I visited is in Berawa.

Opening hours: Monday – Sunday, 9.00 AM – 12.00 AM

Until now, those restaurants have been my chosen destinations when I am missing pasta and tiramisu. I haven’t found other best Italian restaurants in Bali that could make better Italian cuisine than them. What about you, do you have a recommendation for an Italian restaurant in Bali I should visit? Let me know in the comments. And if you’re into French food (who doesn’t?), you should check my honest review about the best French restaurant in Bali.
