Canggu is a culinary haven, with food from almost every corner of the world and plenty of restaurants offering excellent food and service. For our family, the places we’re drawn to most are those that welcome little ones, too. We love taking our daughter to different family-friendly restaurants in Bali on weekends, where we can enjoy a good meal while she plays and explores.Whether you’re looking for somewhere to spend quality time with your family or planning a holiday in Bali with kids, I’ve got you covered. Here are 10 family-friendly restaurants in Canggu, Bali I recommend visiting with your little ones, each offering delicious food and something to keep children entertained and active.
- Dolan

I’ve been searching for a family-friendly restaurant in Bali with spacious outdoor playground for my daughter. It’s not easy to find it since most of the playgrounds around Canggu are rather limited in space, hence when I found Dolan Restaurant & Park I was thrilled. Nestled just a stone’s throw away from the picturesque Batu Bolong Beach, Dolan is the latest addition to Canggu’s vibrant dining scene on the same road as The Lawn and Times Beach Club. It’s an outdoor restaurant equipped with a bar and grill with the largest park area in Canggu, where everyone can enjoy a fun barbeque under the stars while hanging out with friends and family.

As soon as we arrived, my daughter ran straight to the playground. She happily tried the swings, slides, and seesaw, refusing to sit down on the couch until she had burned off her energy. The playground is spacious and beautiful, with surrounding trees providing plenty of shade, a lovely spot for active little ones aged two and up.

Dolan truly lives up to its name which means playing in the Javanese language (the most spoken local language in Indonesia). Here, the children can run freely and play with friends on the playground.

We started our Sunday lunch with fresh garden bruschetta, a roasted vegetable salad, and a halloumi salad. My husband loved their signature short ribs, while I enjoyed a chicken club sandwich that was satisfying and filling. Meanwhile, Aimee quickly finished her barnyard sliders from the kids’ menu, having worked up quite an appetite after playing nonstop in the playground.

For dessert, we chose a pineapple tarte tatin and Nusantara shaved ice, which brought back memories of the icy treats I often enjoyed as a child.
I honestly think Dolan is one of the best family-friendly restaurants in Canggu. Alongside its impressive outdoor playground, the food makes it well worth a visit. The menu offers a wide selection of Mediterranean-inspired dishes, including grilled steaks and seafood, artisan pizzas, and vegan options. Everything we tried tasted fresh and full of flavor, making it a lovely spot for a relaxed family lunch or dinner.

I’m already planning to return to Dolan with Aimee for their Make Your Own Wood-Fired Pizza activity. This hands-on experience lets little chefs roll out their dough, choose their toppings, and create their own pizzas to be cooked in the wood-fired oven. It sounds like a lovely way to spend a Wednesday evening together, with something fun for the kids beyond the playground.

2. Ding-Ding Hot Pot

Ding Ding Hot Pot is one of family-friendly restaurants in Bali I frequently visit. Sometimes I come just to get cozy with a bowl of their famous chicken bone broth soup; other times, we stop by after spending quality time with my daughter at Smiley, the playground located on the second floor.
This family-friendly restaurant in Canggu has quickly become popular, and I can understand why. The food is delicious (I love their spicy wonton, sadly it has been discontinued!), the space is incredibly cozy, and its aesthetic interior and exterior are enough to leave you in awe. Ding Ding Hot Pot blends Chinese heritage with Balinese friendliness, and so far, they’re doing a very good job at it.
A little tip if you’re planning to enjoy their hot pot: the restaurant can get quite busy on weekends, even during lunchtime, so I recommend making a reservation in advance.

One of the things that makes Ding-Ding Hot Pot a great choice for families is Smiley Playhouse, a charming indoor playground on the second floor. I’ve been there countless times with my daughter, and its cozy atmosphere and variety of toys and games make it a lovely spot for babies and toddlers. Whether it’s a hot afternoon or a rainy day, Smiley keeps little ones happily entertained.
What I love most is how much there is for kids to do. The space is clean, colorful, and filled with activities, from climbing and exploring to pretend play. My daughter’s absolute favorites are riding the little Vespa around the mini track and playing make-believe with other children.
Each child needs to be accompanied by an adult and everyone must wear socks inside.
Entrance fee: Rp143,000 per child (includes one adult).
Tip: If you spend at least Rp500,000 at Ding Ding Hot Pot downstairs, you’ll get one free playground ticket, a nice little bonus for lunch or dinner out with the family.

3. Nouvelle Bookstore & Coffee

The newly opened Nouvelle Bookstore & Coffee in Seseh has been drawing attention from families in the area. This independent, international bookstore carries a wide selection of children’s books for babies, toddlers, and young readers, alongside parenting titles. Most books are in English, with a smaller selection in German and French.

What makes Nouvelle stand out as a family-friendly café in Bali is its creative and educational events, including read-aloud sessions and pottery classes. Occasionally, children’s book authors are invited to lead the read-aloud sessions, making the experience even more special. These reading events are free, but spaces are limited, so be sure to reserve a spot for your little ones.

While children are busy listening to stories or getting creative with clay, parents and guardians can settle into a cozy leather sofa and enjoy a cup of specialty coffee.

Beyond its charming blue building and welcoming atmosphere, Nouvelle brings something different to Seseh. In a village where most morning coffee stops are cafés and eateries, it offers books and coffee under one roof, a lovely combination for families who enjoy slowing down and browsing together.

There is plenty for adults to explore, too. The carefully curated shelves feature fiction spanning fantasy, thrillers, sci-fi, and romance, alongside self-development, business, and classic literature. It’s the kind of place where you can easily spend more time browsing than you originally planned. The coffee is another reason to linger. Nouvelle uses beans sourced from Indonesia and serves everything from espresso-based drinks to V60 pour-over, making it an inviting stop for both book lovers and coffee enthusiasts. If you love chatting about books, don’t miss Nouvelle’s monthly book club. It’s a chance to share your latest reads and connect with fellow book lovers.

4. Thalassa Seseh

The next family-friendly restaurants in Bali is Thalassa Seseh. It’s a great place to unwind and catch the sunset with family. Nestled in the serene coastal village of Seseh, this spot offers a unique dining experience where elegant wooden furnishings meet breathtaking beach views.
The space is quite generous, perfect for sipping cocktails, enjoying a fresh coconut with a book in hand, gathering for dinner with friends, or simply chilling with family. A large grassed area makes it ideal for picnics and a safe place for kids to play. I often see parents and nannies bringing little ones here, as there’s plenty of room to roam freely.
Adding to its charm, Thalassa has direct access to Seseh Beach and facilities for rinsing off after a play or swim by the shore. It’s no surprise that since opening its doors last year, Thalassa Seseh has quickly gained a reputation as the place to be, drawing more visitors every day.

5. Made’s Warung Berawa

Made’s Warung in Berawa is a great option for families who enjoy Indonesian food in a relaxed setting. The menu offers a mix of Indonesian, Asian, and international dishes, so there’s plenty for everyone to choose from. What makes the family-friendly restaurant in Canggu even more appealing for families is the playground and the variety of children’s activities held throughout the week. Little ones can climb, swing, jump, and slide, while parents enjoy a meal or a cup of coffee. It’s the kind of place where you can take your time over lunch while the kids stay busy playing and making new friends.
Note: A minimum spend of IDR 150,000 is required to access the playground and mini soccer areas.

6. Jiwa Cafe
A playground, time in nature, and healthy food. Those are the reasons we keep coming back to Jiwa Cafe. Located right in the heart of Jiwa permaculture garden, this family-friendly café in Bali embraces a garden-to-plate approach, using as much produce from its own garden as possible. Think vegetables for lunch, herbs for tea, fruit for smoothies and juices, mung beans for porridge, and organic eggs for breakfast. There’s plenty of wholesome food for the whole family to enjoy!
What I like the most from one of the family-friendly restaurants in Canggu, Bali is the space for our daughter to roam and explore. There’s a small outdoor playground next to the café, where she can play in the sandpit, climb, enjoy the hammocks, and run around with friends.
On another visit, we joined their gardening session, which takes place every Saturday. It was lovely to walk through the permaculture garden, visit the chickens, and watch the fish in the pond. There’s always something to discover, from herbs and fruit growing in the garden to the animals living there. It’s a fun activity for toddlers, older children, and parents alike. Aimee loves playing with soil and water, so she really enjoyed getting involved in the gardening. The best part? Despite being close to the hustle and bustle of Canggu, Jiwa Cafe and its garden feel wonderfully peaceful. We can slow down and spend time in nature without having to leave Canggu at all.

7. Le Bajo
The last family-friendly restaurant in Canggu, Bali, on my list is Le Bajo. It’s such a great spot to spend a weekend with the family. Located on Jalan Pantai Lima in Pererenan, Le Bajo hosts a special weekend program called Family First: Splash Out every Saturday and Sunday. Parents and kids can relax on the daybeds, swim in its iconic Komodo-shaped pool, and enjoy a whole range of activities, from a playground and bouncy castle to games and a BBQ.
I took my family here one weekend, and we ended up spending almost the entire afternoon simply because there was so much to do. When my daughter got bored with playing in the sand and swimming, we strolled through the garden and enjoyed some live music. Occasionally, Le Bajo also hosts a weekend market, with stalls selling cute children’s products. If you’re planning a weekend visit with your little ones, I recommend reserving a daybed in advance (IDR 500,000), as they can get booked up quickly.
Set among the rice fields of Pantai Lima, Le Bajo Bali is a spacious dining and lifestyle destination with several places to explore. The complex is home to Biru, a restaurant serving modern cuisine; Enya, a Japanese dining venue; Le Bajo Shop, a curated retail space; and Kurasu, the well-known coffee shop from Kyoto, Japan. We also often stop by Kurasu for its delicious coffee when we’re out without our daughter.
